Inaugural Indigenous Language Revitalisation and Teaching Conference
30 October - 2 November 2008*
(27 October - 4th November for Full Conference Package)

This is an invitation from Te Ataarangi to the ends of the world and throughout Aotearoa inviting those in the field of indigenous language revitalisation and teaching to join us in Aotearoa – New Zealand. Let's gather to listen, observe, exchange ideas and learn with others in these fields. Aotearoa has paved the way in developing Indigenous Methods of language learning of which Te Ataarangi is but one of them alongside, Te Kohanga Reo (language nests), Kura Kaupapa Māori (immersion primary education), Wharekura (immersion secondary education) and Wananga (tribal colleges). Te Ataarangi is a 'flax roots' methodology created from within the communities and has operating for over 25 years. This gathering will afford the opportunity to engage with and learn first hand about this initiative and its methodology and contribution to the revitalisation of Te Reo Māori. Join us and share ideas, food, stories and celebrate together the spirit of our languages that survive today.

Registration for this event is now available online for International and Aotearoa-New Zealand delegates.
