What is Pae Akoako and why do we have it?

Pae Akoako is our national Learning Management System (LMS), designed to support the growth and sustainability of Te Ataarangi across all rohe. It brings together our collective knowledge, resources, and learning materials into one accessible, digital space.

This platform was created to:

  • Support kaiako with tools to enhance teaching and resource sharing.

  • Provide ākonga with consistent, high-quality learning experiences.

  • Strengthen our kaupapa by creating a unified, connected learning environment across the motu.

How will we use it and roll it out?

Each rohe will be supported to:

  • Set up and manage their own dedicated space within the platform.

  • Upload and tailor learning content to suit their unique needs.

  • Access shared national resources, kōwae ako, and training materials.

  • Take part in training to confidently use Pae Akoako with their kaiako and ākonga.

The rollout is staged, starting with training and support for rohe admins, followed by wider access for kaiako and then ākonga.

What's the ultimate goal?

The ultimate outcome is to:

  • Empower every rohe to deliver and manage their own reo Māori learning within a shared system.

  • Create a connected whānau of kaiako and ākonga, able to learn from and support one another.

  • Ensure the ongoing revitalisation and intergenerational transmission of te reo Māori through a strong, well-supported Te Ataarangi network.

Why are we creating websites for each rohe?

Each rohe within Te Ataarangi has its own identity, kaupapa, and way of working. Creating dedicated websites helps rohe express who they are, share their mahi, and connect with their communities in a professional and accessible way.

The aim is for every rohe to have a strong digital presence that reflects their uniqueness, promotes their activities, and makes it easy for whānau and ākonga to stay connected.

What is the purpose of these Websites?

The websites will act as a central hub for each rohe to:

  • Share information about upcoming classes, events, and wānanga.

  • Provide easy access to registration forms and learning resources.

  • Showcase their kaupapa, team, and local initiatives.

  • Increase visibility and strengthen engagement with their communities.

Each site can be customised to reflect the rohe's needs, with support provided around design, content, and updates.

What are the Benefits?

By building these websites, we aim to:

  • Empower rohe to manage their own communications and tell their own stories.

  • Help ākonga, whānau, and the wider public easily find and engage with reo Māori learning opportunities.

  • Strengthen Te Ataarangi’s collective reach and visibility across Aotearoa.

  • Promote digital growth in alignment with our kaupapa of revitalising te reo Māori.
